Died
KIRKUP - In San Rafael, December 25th, Dr. Edwin Kirkup, a native in England, aged 61 years.

Dr. Edwin KIrkup passed away on Christmas Day. His health has been delicate during all his stay in San Rafael, but with his last illness he was confined to his room about 5 months. He was a physician, practicing mainly by the homeopathic school, in which he was very successful. Dr. Kirkup was a native of England, but lived in this country from early boyhood. He served 3 yrs in the Union Army, commencing as Captain of Co. D, 38th IA, in 1862, and closing as a Surgeon, rank Major 18th IA, in 1865. He was a member of McDowell Post, No. 90, G.A.R., and of the order of Odd Fellows, though he never transferred his connection to Marin Lodge. His funeral took place Monday from the Methodist Church, Rev. Mr. Bruner officiating, both his comrades of the Post and his brethren of the I.O.O.F. participating. He leaves a widow, who is deeply bereaved, and who had tended him in his long and helpless illness with wonderful courage and devotion.
