Mrs. Lena Petersen, died Sunday at the hospital in Spencer, at the age of 94 years, four months and 13 days.
Mrs. Petersen was born Lena Reimers in Germany on March 4, 1861 and was baptized in the Lutheran faith.
When three years old the family came to this country and settled in Scott county, later moving to
Tama county, where in 1883 she was united in marriage to Hans Petersen. To this union were born six daughters and one son.
In 1889 the family moved to Cherokee county, where they made their home until 1895, then moved to a farm near Gaza, From 1912 to 1945 the y lived in Gaza, where Mr. Petersen died in 1945
Since then, Mrs. Petersen has lived with her children.
Surviving members of the family include one son, Henry of Spencer, Four daughters, Mrs. Adolph Klink (Anna), Gaza; Mrs. H. C. Drake, (Lula ) Spencer; Mrs. J. W. Flick, (Minnie), Spencer; Mrs. Charles Johnson
(Lilla), Primghar; 18 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Sievert Funeral Home, with Rev . H.F. Mercer officiating.
