Sir George Shirley, 1st baronet, married first, Frances Berkeley, dau of Henry Berkeley, 7th Lord Berkeley, on Feb 21,1586/87 in Ashwell, Northanmptonshire, England. Married second, Dorothy Wroughton, dau of Sir Thomas Wroughton and Katherine Howard.
George was created 1st Baronet, of Staunton Harold on May 1611 in the reign of James 1st, 1603-25.
After having inherit his grandfathers estates and wealth, so being a very rich country gentleman.

Sir George raised his own monument as was the fashion of the time. His monument is doubled arched, two tiered and made of Chellaston Alabaster. He is joined by his wife, their infants/children,his grandfather, Frances and his father Sir John. The north aisle of the Breedon church was retained as the private property of the Shirley family. Also on the north aisle is a beautifully carved Shirley pew dated 1627 is one of the finest examples of it's kind in the country.

He had 4 children:

George S. 1587-1590 (died in infancy)

John S. 1592-1592 (died in infancy)

Sir Thomas S. 1594-1654, inherited the manor of Botolph's Bridge, co. Huntingdon, knt. married Mary Harper, daughter of Thomas Harper, esq. of Rushall, co. Stafford, they had 2 sons, Henry & George

Sir Henry S. 1596-1633, 2nd baronet, mar 1616(under whole inspection of the fine family pedigree was taken and completed 1632), he died Feb. 1633.
