----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Harry Bignall, born 21st Sept 1879 was the son of John William and Elizabeth (nee Brailsford) Bignall and the family lived at 22 Independant Street, Nottingham at the time of his birth.
He married Ethel Mary Gretton on the 13 May 1912 in Nottingham. Ethel had 2 daughters from a previous marriage, Edna May & Pashia. They then had 3 sons, Harry S. (1912), Arthur (1913) and John C Bignall (1915)
Harry initially enlisted on 15 June 1915 into the Army but was later transferred to the Royal Flying Corp. His occupation on enlistment was as a Rigger and Sail maker according to his Service Record.
He died of Bronchopneumonia ( family story is that he was he a prisoner of war who died later, as he is buried away from the immediate front line).
However from his service record he was demoted from a Flight Sergeant to a Corporal Mechanic on 9 May 1918 which means he was working on aircraft behind the main war front.
As the war had ended on 11th November 1918, was he a victim of the Flu outbreak that occurred after the end of the 1st WW?
