Entered into rest January 16, 1997, Clara (Loitman) SMITH, M.D., in Tucson, Arizona. Cherished wife of the late Joseph SMITH, M.D. of Providence, Rhode Island. Beloved mother of Ruth BAKER-BATTIST (Lewis) of Chevy Chase, Maryland, Deborah WEINTRAUB (Gerald) of Tucson, Arizona, Professor Charles William SMITH (Rita) of White Plains, New York, and Professor David Lee SMITH (Susan) of Cincinnati, Ohio, eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Services at Schlossberg-Solomon Memorial Chapel, 824 Washington Street, Canton, Massachusetts, Sunday, January 19, 1997 at 1:00 p.m. Memorial Observance will be at the Esther GROSSMAN residence, 86 Monroe Road, Quincy, Massachusetts on Sunday and then the children will sit individually at their own homes for the rest of the week. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be sent to National Hadassah, 50 West 59th Street, New York City, NY 10019 or Rhode College, 600 Mt. Pleasant Avenue, Providence, RI 02908.
