The death occurred at Holy Cross Hospital last Saturday morning, of Evelyn Prichard, wife of John Norquay, of 920 Thirty-eighth avenue west, after an operation performed a week previously. From the first it was seen that Mrs. Norquay’s chances for recovery were small, but her family and friends hoped until the last that she might pull through. On Friday it was seen that death was inevitable, and she passed away about 6 o’clock on Saturday morning.

Mrs. Norquay was a daughter of R. J. Pritchard, a pioneer settler of Prince Albert, Sask., who came to that place in the early 70’s from Manitoba. On both sides of the family, Mrs. Norquay was descended from the old Red River stock, her grandfather, William Gunn, having been one of Lord Selkirk’s Kildonan settlers, and her grandmother a McBeth of Kildonan.

Mr. Norquay is a son of the late Hon. John Norquay, who was for 12 years premier of Manitoba, having held office from 1876 to 1888. Mrs. Norquay was married in December, 1903 and leaves two children, a daughter Mary, aged 14, and a son, John Prichard Norquay 10 years of age, to mourn with their father, her loss.

The family came to Calgary from Edmonton, last September, when Mr. Norquay, who is in the service of the C.N.R., was transferred to this point.

The funeral will take place on Tuesday at 3 p.m. from Christ Church, Elbow Park, where the funeral service will be conducted by the Rev. Canon Hayes, and interment will be in the Union Cemetery.
