Harley G. Schoonmaker, 63, of Gladwin, died suddenly Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001 at MidMichigan Medical Center - Gladwin.

He was born April 11, 1938 to Julian and Viola (Strong) Schoonmaker in St. Louis, Michigan. He married Kristine Nelson Nov. 12, 1960 in Boyne City and worked as a machine operator at General Motors in Lansing. He retired in 1988 after 32 years and the couple moved to Gladwin County from Bath.

He is survived by his wife; four sons, Brian of Standish, Scott and wife Melanie of Lansing, David and wife Norine of Lansing, John and wife Patricia of Gladwin; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; his parents; a sister, Patricia and husband Don of Lansing; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 12, 2001 at 2 p.m. at the Hall Funeral Home in Gladwin with Pastor Tony Reynolds officiating. Burial was in Highland Cemetery in Gladwin.
