Wilhelm Brunner was born at Canton Argan, Switzerland on April 5, 1868 to Jacob and Magdelena (Miller) Brunner and passed away August 31, 1962 at 9:15 a.m. at the Apostolic Christian Home at the age of 94 years, four months, 26 days.
He came to America with his parents at the age of 12 years. First the family settled in Illinois, later came to Kansas on a farm in the Bern community.
In his early youth he became a member of the Apostolic Christian church.
In 1892, he was united in marriage to Christina Kellenberger. They moved to a farm northwest of Berwick, now known as the Will Hartter farm. To this union six children were born. Later they established a farm home south of Sabetha in the Harmony neighborhood, from there they retired to a home in Sabetha on East Main. His wife passed away April 17, 1927, also preceding him in death were four children, Charles, who died in infancy, Mary, Edward and Philip. Surviving to mourn his loss are one daughter, Lydia, Mrs. Sol Wenger, and one son, David; one brother, Gottlieb Brunner of Oneida, 12 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
The family deeply appreciates and wishes to thank each and every one who assisted in any way over these last days and especially for the kindness and care he received at the Apostolic Christian Home.
Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 3 at ten o'clock at the Apostolic Christian church.
Pallbearers: Eli Brunner, Melvin Brunner, Marvin Brunner, Loren Brunner, Melvin Wenger and Vernon Wenger.
