Soviet Communist Party activist and philosopher, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences (1991, Academy of Sciences of the USSR in 1981). From March 1976 to October 1989, chief editor of the newspaper "Pravda", and resigned after mass protests triggered by [citation 1,355 days] reprint in "Pravda" article by Vittorio Dzukkoni of the Italian newspaper "La Repubblica" on Yeltsin's alcoholism (while it is still not perceived as fact.) First deputy in 1976-1982, he was Yuri Sklyarov. In 1989-1990, he worked in the USSR, and was a member of the editorial board of the series "Science - unlimited possibilities and potential limitations,"Russian Academy of Sciences" (published by "Science"). Member of the Central Committee of the CPSU (1976, 1981, 1986). Member of the Council of Nationalities of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR (1979-1984) and (1984-1989) convocations of the RSFSR. He was awarded the Order of the October Revolution, the other orders of the USSR, laureate of the State Prize of the USSR.
