Mrs. Lora TRAPP, 59, died at the Medical and Surgical Hospital today, 12 hours after she had been burned in an explosion which destroyed her home at 500 Palestine Ave., South San Antonio.
N. R. M.?.., county patrolman, said Mrs. TRAPP was attempting to light the kitchen range to prepare dinner when the explosion occurred. Her husband L. E. TRAPP, 71, was in the barn. Flames prevented him from aiding his wife.
Dist. Fire Chief H. A. DUSTIN of the San Antonio Fire Department said the explosion was apparently caused by escaping gas. The interior of the home was a mass of flames immediately after the blast.
TRAPP told sheriff's deputies that his wife rolled on the floor in an effort to smother the flames on her clothing. She suceeded in reaching the outside without help.
The loss was estimated at 3000.00 by TRAPP.
Besides the widower, Mrs. TRAPP is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy JENNINGS and Mrs. Ruth MARKGRAF, both of San Antonio; three sons, W. D. and L. E. TRAPP, Jr., both of San Antonio and J. A. TRAPP, Castroville, and three sisters, Mrs. Alma YOST and Mrs. Katie BLACK, both of McLouth, Kan., and Mrs. Clara DAVIS, San Antonio.

Lora May CARNAHAN was born on what is known as the Carnahan homestead one mile east of McLouth, Jefferson County, Kansas, December 19, 1882, and died at San Antonio, Texas, January 20, 1942.
Her early education was acquired at McLouth schools. She later received a teachers degree at Emporia Teachers College and finished her education at the Lady of the Lake College in San Antonio, Texas. She was a teacher for four years in the public schools in Jefferson County, Kansas, also taught several years after moving to Texas.
She was married May 2, 1906, at the home near McLouth, to Edward E. TRAPP of Oskaloosa, moving to San Antonio in 1910, where they made their home until the time of her death. To this union were born two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy JENNINGS and Mrs. Ruth MARKGRAF, three sons, W. D. Trapp, L. E. Trapp, Jr., and J. A. Trapp all of San Antonio.
Mrs. Trapp accepted Christ early in life and leaves to her children, the memory of a true Christian mother. The community of San Antonio will grieve the loss of an active, social and sagacious citizen. Mr. and Mrs. Trapp had many relatives and friends in Oskaloosa and McLouth who extend sympathy to Mr. Trapp and family in San Antonio.
Beside the children she leaves to mourn her loss thirteen grandchildren and three sisters: Mrs. Clara DAVIS, of San Antonio, Mrs. Alma YOST and Mrs. Katie BLACK of McLouth.
The funeral was held at the Trinity Baptist Church in San Antonio. Rev. J. S. MILLER and Rev. F. C. DUTTON officiated. Interment was in Rose Lawn Burial Park.

Mrs. Alma YOST returned to her home in McLouth Sunday, from San Antonio, Texas, where she attended the funeral of her sister, Mrs. Lora TRAPP, who met her death by a gas explosiion which occurred Monday noon Jan. 19, while attempting to light the kitchen range. She suffered second and third degree burns; was taken to hospital but passed away Tuesday at 12:45 a.m.
The home and contents were almost completely destroyed.
