Bill was born in Mauston, WI to Merton William and Ruth (Foster) Ashworth. He graduated from Adams-Friendship High School in 1957. Bill served in the National Guard. He married Mary Smart on June 24, 1961 in Nekoosa, WI. Bill worked for 14 years for GM in Janesville, WI. Retired to farm and bought the Country Store in 1973. Bill later bought Follet and Leach Feed Mill in Coloma and named it Ashworth Feed and Implement.
He served on the Adams County Board of Supervisiors for 12 years, chairing the 51/42 board and the Highway Committee among others.
He was preceded in death by his parents and parents-in-law.
Bill was survived by his wife, Mary Ashworth; sons, Mark William Ashworth, and Howard Andrew Ashworth; grandchild, Andrew William Ashworth; brother, David (Maxine) Ashworth; brother-in-laws, Ben (Donna) Smart of AZ and Michael (Penny) Smart of GA. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
