Henry Clay Martin was the son of James Knox Polk Martin and Narcissa M. "Nannie" Edwards Martin of Warren County, Kentucky. Henry was sent to Plattsburgh,N.Y. June 5, 1917 to train at the Army's school for bakers and cooks--on the 1940 census he was a bartender and he was a lodger at the Park Hotel and it also states that in 1935 he was living in Bowling Green, Kentucky and that he was single. His brother John D. Martin applied for his military headstone in 1956.
