Sir Edward married Katherine Parr (later Queen), daughter of Sir Thomas Parr and Maud Green in 1529. For a time, the couple lived with Edward's family at Gainsborough Old Hall. In 1530, the couple moved out of the Old Hall after two years of marriage. Edward and Katherine moved to Kirton-in-Lindsey. Sir Thomas was a steward to the manor of the soke of Kirton-in-Lindsey, a small village about ten miles above Gainsborough. Thomas was persuaded to secure a joint patent in survivorship with his son.
In 1532, Borough was named to the various commissions of peace that held session in the area, but by April of 1533, Edward Borough was dead. He had no issue. His widow, Katherine, upon her third marriage would become Queen of England to King Henry VIII in 1543.
