One of Rinehart's unfinished pieces was not of a typical classical or allegorical figure, but of a life-like, realistically rendered businessman carrying an attaché case in one hand and a glove in the other, ready, it would appear, to enter a boardroom. It represents William Prescott Smith (1825-1872), who as master of transportation for the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad had overseen the movement of thousands of Union troops during the Civil War. Although Rinehart had finished the first model by 1874, the sculpture was completed by Frederick Volck (1833-1891)--from Greenmount Cemetery history
