One of Rinehart's unfinished pieces was not of a typical classical or allegorical figure, but of a life-like, realistically rendered businessman carrying an attaché case in one hand and a glove in the other, ready, it would appear, to enter a boardroom. It represents William Prescott Smith (1825-1872), who as master of transportation for the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad had overseen the movement of thousands of Union troops during the Civil War.
