Clarence A. Pepple Sr., 88, of Village of Laurel Run Nursing Home, and formerly of Barr Road, Waynesboro, Pa., died Sunday, June 15, 2003, at the home.

Born Dec. 14, 1914, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late John and Bertha Wissinger Pepple.

His wife, Luray Louise Snider Pepple, died Sept. 7, 1954.

He attended Waynesboro schools.

He was employed by Frick Co., Waynesboro, as a crane operator, retiring in 1977.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.

He is survived by one daughter, Lois M. Creager of Waynesboro; one son, Clarence A. Pepple Jr. of Hagerstown; two sisters, Dorothy Buck of Hagerstown, and Pauline Sperow of Waynesboro; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Priscilla R. Powell; two sons, Walter C. Alter and James Pepple; two sisters, Florence Hart and Anna Bond; and six brothers, Carl Pepple, Guy Pepple, Donald Pepple, Robert Pepple, Raymond Pepple and Glen Pepple.

Services and burial will be private.
